Sam Younger to be new Charity Commission Chief Executive

Sam Younger CBE has been appointed as the new chief executive of the Charity Commission, the independent regulator of charities in England and Wales. He will take up the appointment from 1 September 2010.

Mr Younger’s previous roles include founding Chair of the Electoral Commission, Director General of the British Red Cross, and Managing Director of the BBC World Service. After leaving the Electoral Commission he was interim Chief Executive of the housing charity, Shelter, during 2009 and this year is undertaking interim assignments with the educational charity Bell Educational Trust and with the Electoral Reform Society.
