NCG is a leading national education and skills group with an annual turnover of over £170m and 2,800 staff across 60 locations nationwide. In 2016, under the leadership of Chief Executive Joe Docherty, NCG became the first Further Education Corporation to be awarded Taught Degree Awarding Powers, allowing it to develop and award its own Honours and Masters Degrees.
The group currently comprises six Colleges -Kidderminster College, Newcastle College, Newcastle Sixth Form College, West Lancashire College, Carlisle College and Lewisham Southwark College who joined NCG in August 2017. The group includes national training provider Intraining, based in Sheffield, and national youth charity Rathbone, based in Manchester.
NCG is seeking an outstanding individual to join the organisation as it continues to develop through this exciting period of growth and development. As COO this person will report to the Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidate will have overall responsibility for Group Services functions at Executive Management level with direct responsibility for Information Technology, Property Services including Health and Safety, Procurement, Human Resources and Organisation Development.
As a key member of the Executive Management team, the COO will also take a leadership role in building, implementing, and overseeing NCG’s systems, processes, workflows, and procedures ensuring overall quality and efficiency of operations.
The successful candidate will have significant strategic and operational experience gained in an organisation of requisite scale and complexity, at either Executive Director or COO level. Experience of improving data systems and resource investment processes would be advantageous, whilst some expertise in property investment and management would also be welcome. More generally candidates will demonstrate a successful track record in driving business change and development from an operational standpoint.
