Social Investment Business specialises in helping organisations become more resilient and sustainable so that they are in the best place to grow and increase their impact. As one of the UK’s first social investors SIB has provided over £380 million worth of loans and grants to hundreds of organisations all across the country. As well as managing its ongoing loan portfolio, SIB now focuses on two different areas: grant programmes to help charities and social enterprises get ‘investment ready’ and loan funds to test new ideas and meet specific gaps in the market. While times have changed, SIB continues to pursue the goal of providing the right type of finance to help charities and social enterprises have a positive impact on the lives of the people they work with. Its track record and expertise put SIB in a great position to do this and it works tirelessly to help more organisations do more of what they do best.
SIB wishes to appoint an outstanding Chief Executive to lead the organisation in its exciting next phase of development. The board anticipates that this will encompass considerable change as SIB’s strategy is updated and implemented. There is a genuine opportunity to identify and capitalise upon new markets. At the same time, there is a need to reinvigorate SIB following a period of some uncertainty and of changes in its marketplace, potentially redesigning its business model. SIB has strong underlying cash performance and reserves so changes can be delivered in a secure financial context. A recently refreshed board is fully supportive of change.
This calls for a seasoned leader with drive, energy and entrepreneurialism. Reporting to a Board of Trustees/non-executive Directors, the new Chief Executive will provide SIB with inspirational leadership, creativity, vision and strategic direction. S/he will be responsible for leading the organisation as it enters a new phase of development with a specific focus on impact and innovation underpinned by strongly-held values, ensuring that SIB delivers consistently to the highest professional standards in everything it does.
