Choosing a headhunter you
can believe in...

You'll take immense care over selecting the right person to appoint. So it makes sense to take equal care over selecting the people who'll find the candidates.

Here are three pointers...

Visit their offices. Meet the people. Feel the atmosphere. Sitting in your own space listening to a plausible salesman won't tell you much. Sit in their space and ask to meet some of the researchers (not all search firms even have their own researchers).

If they tell you where they're going to look or start putting forward names before you've given them a full brief, be on your guard. Would you be comfortable with a doctor who gave you a prescription before making the diagnosis?

We're biased here, but we do believe you're likely to be better served by a firm that charges flat fees for its work, as we normally do. That way, you can feel confident that we're working for the best result, not to ramp up a percentage-based fee.
