Astrea Academy Trust is an inclusive, all-through Trust that was established to tackle historic educational disadvantage. Astrea is one of the country’s leading trusts with regards to social inclusion and regeneration; and is proud of its innovative approach. The Trust is committed – in every action that it takes – to providing an education that is rich in knowledge and experience, which “Inspires Beyond Measure”.
Astrea is passionate about improving pupil outcomes across all learning phases and sees itself as being presented with a rare opportunity to make a difference to the lives of school children – many of whom have not previously received the educational opportunities that they deserve. The Trust is a diverse family of 27 primary, secondary and special schools across South Yorkshire and Cambridgeshire.
The Trust seeks to appoint an outstanding Chief Executive. This is a wonderful opportunity for the right person to be part of the exciting and challenging work of establishing the Trust’s maturity and influence in the sector. Following four years of rapid growth and school improvement, Astrea has developed an impressive track record; built a stable and healthy financial foundation; and has transformed the life chances of thousands of children. The new CEO will redouble our efforts in the years ahead.
Working closely with the Trustees to set the Trust’s strategic direction for the next five years, the appointed candidate will be a visionary leader, delivering further improvements in performance across the Trust and increasing the Trust’s capacity to contribute to the wider national debate on enhancing life chances for children.
Whilst experience of education is not a pre-requisite, the Trust actively encourages applications from leaders who have a passion for inclusion and social mobility. The appointed candidate will also have the necessary leadership and commercial experience to lead a complex, multi-site organisation, and will possess the gravitas and advocacy skills needed to ensure that the Trust remains a leader within its field.
The Chief Executive will build high performing teams and oversee the Trust’s innovative people strategy, whilst creating strong and meaningful relationships across the organisation. They will be passionate about the Trust’s mission and recognise the importance that academic rigour and a systematic improvement programme plays in raising standards. Crucially, they will be an inspirational and authentic leader, able to articulate a shared vision in a way that is relevant to all communities, displaying values and behaviours fully aligned to Astrea and its’ culture.
