Vice Principal

Job Reference CAAADB
Closing Date Sunday 04 Nov 2018

Closing Date: Midnight Sunday 4 November 2018

Location: Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire

Package: Competitive

Start date: September 2019

This is a rare opportunity in the sector to take on a senior academic leadership role, across a group of schools, which will provide an excellent platform from which to move to headship. The opportunity arises as a result of Michael Bond’s appointment to be Headmaster of Brentwood in September 2019. It is hoped that the appointed candidate will be able to take up this post at that point, or as soon as possible thereafter.

The Vice Principal Education is the second most senior educationalist in this family of six schools and deputises for the Principal, as necessary, in matters relating to the educational running of the Group. Reporting to the Principal, the VP forms part of the Group’s Executive Team and has oversight of the day-to-day running of the schools, by means of close liaison with the Heads of School and through maintaining a visible presence about the schools.

This role offers the chance to work in a complex, large and commercially minded group of independent schools. Berkhamsted Schools Group provides education to children aged from 6 months to 18 years and therefore the VP Education will have exposure to educational matters across this age range. Candidates are likely to have an entrepreneurial mind-set, be genuinely interested in developments and innovation in education and able to operate in a matrix structure. This is a role for an expert communicator and influencer and someone who enjoys building relationships. One-step removed from the day-to-day delivery of school leadership, this role still affords the individual daily exposure to school life.

Saxton Bampfylde Ltd is acting as an employment agency advising Berkhamsted School on this appointment. For further information about the role, including details about how to apply, please visit www.saxbam.com/appointments using reference CAAADB. Applications should be received by Sunday 4 November 2018 (midnight).

Berkhamsted is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and visitors to adopt a child centred and coordinated approach to child protection and safeguarding
