BFBS is looking for a Director of Editorial Content to head up our talented news and factual content team. BFBS is well-established as the unique supplier of brilliant content about the U.K Armed Forces and the military world, with a 50 strong team of journalists, videographers, camera operators, editors and graphic designers. Our mission is to inform, entertain, connect and champion the Forces world of serving personnel, families and veterans. Our website forces.net, YouTube and TV channels, radio stations and social media platforms together reach more than 2 million people a week. We tell compelling stories about the Armed Forces from the inside.
This is a challenging and exciting opportunity to shape our content and lead our continuing transformation to a digital first operation. You will be an experienced editorial executive with a solid background in video production and digital platforms. Candidates will have a flair for original creative treatments and be experienced in using data to inform editorial decision. A good understanding of how social media is used to distribute content and build audiences is essential, as is a good understanding and appreciation of radio news and factual content, and audience development. You will have demonstrable experience of leading and bonding creative teams.
BFBS is editorially independent but “Forces friendly” so candidates must be a confident decision maker and a supporter of the military. You will relish the prospect of bringing to life the astonishing range of stories about the Armed Forces. As a member of the BFBS Senior Management Team, reporting to the CEO, you will also share responsibility for shaping our corporate strategy as we develop the proposition for our future services for the Ministry of Defence.
