The Board of Trustees is now seeking an exceptional leader to join the organisation as its Chief Executive. The post-holder will play a central role in developing a new and transformative vision for these museums, in engaging staff and stakeholders and in helping to make it a reality.
Birmingham Museums Trust (BMT) is one the of UK’s leading civic museums services with internationally significant collections in fine art, the applied arts, world history and science and technology. It is also an organisation of huge potential, now looking ahead to what will be one of the most exciting museum development projects in the UK. The coming years will represent a once in a generation opportunity to transform an already award-winning museums service into a modern, globally relevant visitor experience in the heart of Birmingham.
The CEO will lead the development of a post Covid19 transformation vision for Birmingham Museums, whilst driving through the implementation of one of the most exciting museum capital development projects anywhere in the UK over the next decade. The opportunity is to transform what is already one of the country’s premier museum trusts into a modern, inspirational, globally relevant visitor experience.
The successful candidate will be an inspiring leader, compelling communicator and natural partnership builder. A passion for the importance of culture in building and uniting communities Is essential, as is the ability to apply first class business acumen within the business of culture.
