The Carnegie UK Trust is one of the most dynamic public policy organisations in the UK, seeking a strong impact on people’s lives through challenging established thinking and helping people put fresh thinking into practice. The Trust is unique in its cross jurisdictional, cross sector work, and prides itself on working across multiple issues within society. The Trust’s focus is to improve the lives and wellbeing of people, particularly those who are disadvantaged. The Trust is an independent, endowed charitable trust with a remit across the UK and Ireland, based in Scotland.

The Board of Trustees are looking to appoint an inspiring and dynamic individual to lead the Trust as Chief Executive. The Trust will begin developing the 2021-2025 Strategic Plan from this autumn, making it an ideal time for a new Chief Executive to shape future thinking.

The successful candidate will be a proven leader who possesses significant influencing skills and the gravitas to represent the Trust at all levels amongst peers, policy makers, opinion formers and on an international platform. S/he will demonstrate an ability to think strategically about many factors influencing the Trust’s mission. They will be a dynamic, ambitious and visionary leader with the ability to work across jurisdictions and drive greater impact. With overall responsibility for all employees and budgets, this individual will be accountable to the Chair and Trustees, working with them on setting strategic direction and stewardship of the endowment.
