The Cayman Islands is seeking an exceptional leader to serve as Auditor General, a pivotal constitutional role at the heart of its parliamentary democracy. As Auditor General, you will be the guardian of public finances and a catalyst for positive change across government. Working independently and reporting directly HE The Governor, as hiring manager and administratively, and the Parliament through the Public Accounts Committee, you will lead a dynamic team dedicated to ensuring that public resources deliver maximum value for citizens. Your work will span the full breadth of government operations, from healthcare and education to finance and environmental protection.

The Office of the Auditor General (OAG) plays a crucial role in maintaining the Cayman Islands’ reputation for excellence in governance. Leading a talented team of 28 professionals, you will oversee a diverse portfolio of work that includes financial audits, performance reviews, and special investigations. This is an opportunity to modernise public audit, embrace innovation, and set new standards for transparency and accountability in public service.

Candidates will be accomplished finance professionals combining strategic vision with practical expertise. They will bring not only technical excellence in public audit but also the leadership skills to inspire teams, influence at the highest levels to achieve positive outcomes, and communicate complex issues with clarity and impact. They will be a qualified accountant with substantial experience in senior roles, to include public sector audit.

The ideal candidate will be a natural relationship builder with the personal authority to engage effectively with Parliament, senior officials, and the wider public. They will demonstrate sound judgement, unwavering integrity, and the ability to navigate complex political environments while maintaining independence. Experience with performance audit and value for money studies would be particularly valuable, with familiarity with the Westminster system of government.
