Chesterfield Royal is the district general hospital for Chesterfield and North Derbyshire. 4,500 staff and over 150 volunteers serve a population of more than 400,000 and the Trust also provides child and adolescent mental health services, community-based services, including midwifery and radiology, alongside GP and primary care services from three practices within Royal Primary Care – with a total of eight surgeries across ‘our patch’.

We are ambitious – we’re absolutely clear that we want to provide exceptional care for everyone, but we can only do that by having a vision, mission, strategic priorities and values that others have contributed to – and more importantly, that they also believe in. Now we are seeking two Non-executive Directors to join our board, who can contribute to that strategy and benefit the patient population we are so proud to serve.

Working with the Non-executive team, you will bring a fresh perspective and play a role in shaping the board dynamic, with a focus on collaborative working and innovative approaches through considerable change. The Trust is particularly interested in private and public sector experience, which can contribute to the Trust’s approach to strengthen system-wide working, integration and collaborative working with our partners across the health and care system. You will have a track record of prominence and excellence in your field, and have the stature, intellect and strategic ability to contribute actively to the Board of a complex organisation.

Our incoming Non-executive Directors should be a role model to our organisation and highly motivated by our mission and the values that we live by every day: compassion, ambition, respect and encouragement. You will, alongside your fellow Non-executive Directors, ensure effective governance and compliance and that performance standards are met as required by NHS England/Improvement, the Care Quality Commission and other statutory bodies. The posts will report to the Chair.

The process seeks two Non-executive Directors with it envisaged that at least one of the appointees will reside within the public constituency areas of Bolsover, Chesterfield, Derbyshire Dales and North Amber Valley, High Peak, North East Derbyshire or South Sheffield and Rotherham.
