Cinema First is a unique forum that brings together film distributors and cinema operators to promote and develop UK cinema-going. The core participants are the UK Cinema Association (UKCA), Film Distributors’ Association (FDA) and senior representatives of the member companies of both of these trade associations. Funded by the sponsorship fees paid by its strategic brand partner, the organisation also works to inspire the next generation of young cinema-goers and communicate anti-piracy campaigns to film audiences and the wider public.

Cinema First is now seeking outstanding candidates for the role of independent Chair who will lead a realignment of the organisation’s strategic focus, composition and structure. S/he will act as an ambassador for the UK cinema industry and work with key stakeholders to make known the social and cultural benefits of cinema-going, while thinking strategically about long-term challenges.

Candidates should demonstrate a strong network in business, government and/or other relevant sectors as well as substantial knowledge of the creative industries, media, film, TV, animation, games and/or consumer engagement. An excellent communicator with strong analytical skills, s/he will be comfortable building relationships with a wide range of individuals at all levels. At a time when UK film production and cinema-going are enjoying record success, this is an opportunity to play a leading role in this important sector.
