Closing Date Wednesday 11 Mar 2020

City of London School for Girls (CLSG), an academically pre-eminent and culturally thriving independent day school for girls aged 7 to 18 based in the London Square Mile, is seeking an outstanding candidate to take on the critical role of Bursar.
CLSG was established and is owned by the City of London Corporation (CoLC) with money from a bequest from William Ward of Brixton to provide education for girls. Set in the Barbican, it offers a first-rate education, outstanding facilities, and easy access to all that London has to offer. It is academically selective and its results are among the best in the country. Moreover, CLSG invests in strong pastoral care, provides a range of opportunities beyond the classroom, and inculcates its values of respect, responsibility, and resilience in all of its girls. A generous bursary system, alongside the School’s proactive approach to the local community, make it a diverse and inclusive environment characterised by metropolitan, progressive values and a welcoming culture.
This is the opportunity for you to play a defining role in one of the UK’s most prestigious schools, offering broad and challenging role through which you will help to affect the lives of thousands of young women. As the Bursar you will have overall responsibility for all aspects of the non-academic operations of the School, reporting directly to the Headmistress. As part of the School’s Senior Leadership Team, you will play a significant role in developing and delivering CLSG’s strategic vision for 2030.
You will be a resilient, pragmatic, motivated leader with a diplomatic and persuasive style. You will be able to motivate your teams and build strong relationships across the School, the wider City of London Corporation, and the local community. A people-person, you will nonetheless be able and willing to challenge others and to bring new thinking to the School. Educated to degree level, and a proven track record of successful delivery at both the strategic and operational level are a must. The School seeks an ambitious candidate who can make the most of CLSG’s resources and develop new opportunities for the School.
City of London School for Girls is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.
Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and enhanced DBS clearance.
