The network for Britain’s thousands of co-operatives for 150 years, Co operatives UK works to promote, develop and unite member-owned businesses worth over £38bn to the UK economy. Owned and run by our members, we act as an authoritative, campaigning voice to influence public policy; provide members with the advice and services they need to thrive; and bring them together so that they can connect, learn and trade with one another.
We are now seeking an exceptional candidate to join as our next Chief Executive. You will work with the board of directors and management team to create and deliver an innovative and ambitious strategy, aligned to our co-operative values, which reflects the changing needs of our membership and the UK economy. An ambassador for the organisation and the broader cooperative economy, the Chief Executive will build lasting relationships at the highest level with our key stakeholders, from our members to opinion formers, business leaders, government and the media.
Candidates will have a track record of strategic, transformational leadership in an organisation of equivalent or greater scale and complexity. A proven, authentic and consensus-driven leader and first-class stakeholder manager and influencer, you will be able to inspire and motivate a close-knit team in a values-driven, democratic environment. You will be a values-based leader with a commitment to co-operation and the values that are the foundation of the co-operative model. Past experience in a co-operative or membership organisation is not required, but you will bring experience of setting and operationalising a commercial strategy, aligned to a clear, mission-driven vision.
