Director of Communication and Engagement

Job Reference HATSD
Closing Date Friday 05 Apr 2019

The London Ambulance Service (LAS) does extraordinary work, both on the frontline of emergency services and at the heart of the NHS across the capital, ensuring patients access urgent care in the best, most effective way possible.  After a challenging period two years ago, the London Ambulance Service is improving rapidly: judged to be a “good” service by the Care Quality Commission its ambition is to be world-class, as our world-class capital city needs.

Working with NHS organisations across the city, and with a wide range of stakeholders in the public, private and third sectors, the Director of Communications & Engagement will create a strategy for the London Ambulance Service’s relationships with a variety of partners and colleagues, putting the London Ambulance Service at the heart of London’s health system, and bringing to life a new way of working with volunteers.  This is a newly focussed role, reporting to the CEO, and designed to bring together relationships with partners, colleagues and volunteers while also managing the effectiveness of the London Ambulance Service’s external communications.  This is a really exciting opportunity for an imaginative, inclusive leader, who will bring a rounded communications and engagement leadership skillset and, ideally, an understanding of the London health system at this time of opportunity and challenge.
