Board Members

Job Reference JABAOA
Closing Date Wednesday 12 Sep 2018

Established in 2005 with an endowment of more than £120m, Dolphin Living’s mission is to provide high quality, truly affordable housing, in desirable locations, near good transport links, for working Londoners on modest incomes.  Our target customers are the people who make the city work – teachers nurses, drivers, social workers, actors, police, restauranteurs, craftspeople, designers – all the people who need to live or work in town and who want well-designed homes at an affordable price.

Dolphin Living comprises the Dolphin Square Charitable Foundation, an independent charity regulated by the Charity Commission and subsidiaries, including Dolphin Living Ltd, a Registered Provider of Social Housing. Together they manage over 630 homes, with the overwhelming majority of them – over 80% – let at genuinely affordable rents, which are on average about half the market rate.

Following the natural cycle of people rotating off the board and on the back of a robust skills audit, Dolphin Living are looking to recruit at least two new board members. The skills audit has identified a particular need for board members with senior leadership experience and expertise in development (residential design, planning, development or construction) and/or housing management (long term asset management, customer service or community development).

Dolphin Living values diversity and the dynamism that it brings to the workings of our organisation and we are committed to ensuring that this is reflected in our Board. Applications from candidates from a diverse range of backgrounds will be warmly received.

Board members will be appointed either to the board of the charity, Dolphin Square Charitable Foundation or the Registered Provider, Dolphin Living Ltd., and the two boards meet together, six times a year. Board members also sit on one of three committees. The total time commitment is expected to be around 6 days per year.

Members of the Foundation board are unremunerated, and Dolphin Living Ltd board members are paid £5,000 a year.
