Farringtons School comprises of a Senior School and Prep School, both under one Head and Board of Governors. Farringtons School is part of the Methodist Independent Schools Trust group. The Governors delegate the day-to-day running of the School to the Head and the Bursar.  The Head acts as Chief Executive of the School and Bursar acts as the Chief Operating Officer and Clerk to the Governors. The Bursar, through the Head, is responsible to the Governors for the financial control of both Schools, for the management of property, contracted services, human resources, health and safety and the general administration of the Schools. The Bursar contributes to strategic planning and is responsible for ensuring that resources are efficiently and effectively used. The Bursar provides advice to the Head to enable the School to flourish and supports the Board of Governors to enable the Board to meet its responsibilities.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong financial management skills, a record of effective leadership, vision and empathy.  The highest level of personal integrity will be essential. He or she will be capable of building good working relationships with all members of the school community; in particular with the Head and staff, the Chair of Governors and committee chair. Candidates must also be able to demonstrate sympathy with the ethos of an academic independent co-educational day/boarding school. The successful candidate will want to be fully involved in the life of the school and must care about the education of young people and the welfare of staff.
