Film is an influential and dynamic part of the UK’s creative economy that is currently celebrating considerable success, with the release of a number of hugely successful British made films as well as cinema attendance at its highest level in over 40 years. It is an industry that is rapidly changing with the advent of new technology and changing audience behaviours. The Film Distributors’ Association is the voice of the UK’s film distribution industry; representing the companies that release films for UK cinema audiences, promoting a distribution perspective on cinema industry issues and offering a range of support services to distributors and the industry.
The FDA are now looking to appoint an outstanding Chief Executive to take the organisation into its next phase. Reporting into the President Lord David Puttnam and wider Council, this individual will lead the organisation, developing its future strategy which will meet the challenges and opportunities in the light of rapidly developing technology, viewing platforms and audience viewing habits. Representing the industry externally, the Chief Executive will lobby at the highest level and champion the priorities and view of members.
The appointed candidate will be a dynamic, future-facing, inspirational leader with clarity of vision who can build on FDA’s current success and take it forward with confidence. A track record of strategic leadership in an environment undergoing considerable change will be critical, as will the ability to negotiate and lobby. Candidates should be able to demonstrate some knowledge of the film industry and the issues it is facing. This is an exciting opportunity to reposition an organisation that represents a successful industry undergoing considerable change.
