Director Security

Job Reference AAMARE
Closing Date Tuesday 08 Feb 2022

We are the Government Communications Headquarters – otherwise known as GCHQ. Tasked by UK government, we are a world-leading intelligence, cyber and security agency. Our mission is to keep the UK and its citizens safe, in the real world and online. In today’s increasingly complex and interconnected world, GCHQ’s role at the heart of the nation’s security is more vital than ever.

We are now looking for an exceptional individual who can work across the whole of GCHQ to ensure our mission can thrive in a secure, safe and protected way.

The threats we face are increasingly complex, and as we work ever closer with partners, including in the private sector, and embrace new ways of working, like remote-working and cloud, we will need a proven leader to influence our future direction across the full security arena. With a team of over 200 security and cyber security professionals, covering cyber security and information risk, personnel, identity and sensitive operations security, you will set strategies and deliver outcomes that impact GCHQ and our partners across national security both in the UK and overseas.

A proven cyber security professional, you will bring wider credibility and experience overseeing physical, personnel, and identity security across a broad portfolio. With exceptional people leadership skills, you will have led and developed teams of security professionals and have a proven commitment to building diverse and inclusive teams. You will also bring stakeholder management skills, and a track record of having built relationships internally and externally at senior levels.

To protect the UK, we need a truly diverse workforce that reflects the society we serve. This includes diversity in every sense of the word. We therefore welcome and encourage applications from everyone, including from those groups that are under-represented in our workforce. If you’re personally committed to making a difference, and interested in becoming a world-class, inclusive leader, developing your career and inspiring colleagues, then GCHQ is the place for you.
