Harrow School is an internationally renowned boarding school, educating over 830 boys aged 13 to 18. This position becomes vacant on the appointment of Charles Bailey to the headship of Worksop College. Harrow wishes to appoint an accomplished academic leader, who will serve at the level of Academic Deputy Head and work closely with the Head Master to shape and implement curriculum developments. A key part of the role is to manage the school’s Head of Department team, and as such the Director of Studies is integral to maintaining Harrow’s academic reputation. The role operates at both operational and strategic levels with a focus on identifying and integrating best practices in education, ensuring that students achieve outstanding public examination results, managing teaching and learning strategies, and overseeing the quality of education aspects of the ISI inspections.
Applicants will be experienced Heads of Department with experience gained in managing areas of school wide responsibility or senior leaders with strong academic credentials and management experience. They will have a demonstrable track record of improving academic outcomes and managing others effectively. Candidates must thrive in a busy and intellectually stimulating environment and have energy, drive, and resilience.
The salary will be commensurate with the post and will depend upon qualifications and experience. The Director of Studies lives on site in accommodation provided by the School.
