3 x Group Board Members

Job Reference JAEAUB
Closing Date Monday 15 Feb 2021

L&Q is one of the UK’s largest and most high-profile social businesses; with a turnover of £915m, the Group houses more than 250,000 people in more than 105,000 homes across London and the South East, and in the North West of England. Our vision is that everyone has a quality home they can afford, and we combine social purpose and commercial drive to create homes and neighbourhoods that residents can be proud of. We are one of the biggest social landlords in the country as well as a major developer of new homes. Our dedicated care and support service provides housing to 6,000 vulnerable people with a range of different needs.
It is a pivotal time for the social housing sector and for L&Q, as we seek to address a range of important challenges and opportunities. We are responding to ever growing and changing needs in our communities, and working in a fast-changing property market and a highly fluid policy and operating environment. It has never been more vital that we have a group of talented, engaged and values-driven people around our Board table, with the energy and skills to help L&Q navigate the path ahead.
We are in good shape to embrace change and drive L&Q forward; we have strong financial reserves, top tier ratings for viability and governance from the Regulator of Social Housing and a strong commitment to putting residents first. Our care and support arm, L&Q Living, continues to be a thriving part of our organisation, providing high-quality, tailored support to vulnerable people with a range of needs. We are also proud of the work being done through the L&Q Foundation, which develops and fund social interventions that improve people’s lives and creates opportunities, and has been crucial to supporting our communities during the coronavirus pandemic
It is against this background that L&Q are now looking to appoint three dynamic and values-driven people to join our Group Board at this significant point in our journey. We are in looking in particular for;
• Board Member & Chair of Governance & Remuneration Committee – £20,700 a year
Someone experienced in general management and leadership, who will bring a strategic level understanding of people policies and governance and of organisational development and business transformation in large and complex organisations.
• Board Member & Chair of L&Q Living – £19,300 a year
Someone with experience of strategic leadership within organisations delivering accommodation as well as high quality care and support services to people with a range of needs.
• Board Member & Member of Resident Services Board – £13,600 a year
For this new position, we will welcome interest from people who bring experience of strategic leadership within large scale housing providers, including an understanding of current practice, policy, regulation and risk relating to property maintenance and building safety. We will look for someone with a strong customer-service orientation and the ability to play an active role in championing customer voice.
We have a clear target to improve the diversity of our Board and would wish to encourage people – including current L&Q residents – with the broadest possible range of backgrounds and perspectives to express an interest in these roles.
