MediCinema

CEO

Job Reference UAQARA
Closing Date Monday 19 Jul 2021

MediCinema uses the power of the shared cinema experience, and the magic of film, to improve the wellbeing and quality of the life of NHS patients, their families and carers. We achieve this by building and running cinemas in hospitals equipped with space for beds, wheelchairs and medical equipment, and providing free films (and activities) at bedsides for patients of all ages. Our services help to improve emotional, mental and physical health, reducing feelings of isolation, anxiety and stress, and increasing patient resilience.

Despite the challenges presented by the pandemic, we remain ambitious and continue to grow. We adapted quickly to meet the needs of patients, reimagining our services and extending our reach through a bedside service and on-ward activities. Our cinemas started reopening in August 2020 for socially distanced screenings and have provided lifelines to patients and staff alike, where able, through the crisis. Financially, the charity has weathered the covid crisis well, and we are now rebuilding and reimagining, refining our strategic vision and returning to our ambitious growth plan to increase the number of people we reach each year to 75,000 by 2025 and doubling our cinemas.

We are looking for an inspiring, values-led CEO with strategic acumen, and a passion for our mission, who will empower the internal team and build and maintain relationships across several industries, particularly healthcare and film/cinema. Experience in the charitable sector, the film industry or the NHS would be an advantage, but is not essential. Whatever your background though, you will have a demonstrable track record of successful service delivery and operating at a senior level. You will be responsible for the day-to-day running and development of the charity including public profile, leadership and management of staff and volunteers, fundraising, marketing, public relations, administration and financial control.

If you are passionate about making a difference for patients, and want to be part of growing an exciting organisation, which is embracing digital technology and at the heart of the film business, then we would love to hear from you.

Reflecting the diverse communities that MediCinema is proud to support, we are committed to finding a CEO who is dedicated to furthering diversity and inclusion within the charity. We actively and warmly encourage applications therefore from a broad and deep range of backgrounds and experiences.
