Middlesex is an amazing university, taking its students on life-changing journeys, confident in its role in an uncertain world, and with employees whose jobs bring a sense of personal accomplishment in increasingly challenging times. The only London University to be ranked among the world’s top 150 universities under 50 years old, today we offer a comprehensive range of courses, teach almost 20,000 students each year, validate or franchise courses that are taken by almost another 20,000 students across the globe, undertake a wide range of research, employ around 2,000 staff and support many other jobs with suppliers, contractors and partners.

This is a hugely exciting opportunity for a proven, inspirational and ambitious OD/people leader, used to operating in an environment that has scale and complexity to make a real difference to the lives of students and staff at the University for years to come. This is a new role, appointed by the Board of Governors and reporting directly to the Vice-Chancellor, responding to the period of significant change that lies ahead. The key focus will be to shape and facilitate a transformation journey inside the University that leads on developing capabilities, architectures and business models in response to major opportunities, risks and technological change.

Operating in an ambitious and complex organisation with bright, engaged and constructively challenging peers, to be successful in this demanding role you will exhibit strong personal characteristics including resilience, tenacity, EQ, listening and influencing skills, a collaborative approach, self-assurance, credibility and confidence in what you know and stand for. You will be able to contribute at a strategic level, articulating a high level vision, as well as demonstrating a track record of designing major change projects/strategic people interventions/innovations that address key future-based organisational issues, then oversee their implementation to successful and tangible outcomes.  In short, you will take the lead in defining the future of work at Middlesex.
