Market Operator Services Limited (MOSL) is responsible for the smooth and efficient running of a new, diverse and growing business water market, which opened in 2017 and enables 1.2 million businesses, public sector bodies and not-for-profit organisations in England to choose who supplies their water services. Its central IT system supports over 3,600 users and processes 85,000 transactions per day.
The Chair of the Board will join at an important time for both MOSL and the market. After a period of substantial change, MOSL has recently published its 2020/21 Business Plan which aims to make the market easier to do business in and deliver value, ultimately at a lower overall cost. The Chair will lead the Board to ensure MOSL is on the right track to deliver against its commitments, drive efficiencies in the market and has a role in delivering insight against wider sector goals, such as water efficiency take up.
Candidates should bring board-level experience and be able to command the confidence of a wide range of senior stakeholders. As an excellent leader, they will have strong communication skills with the ability to steer complex discussions and facilitate productive and open debate. An understanding of regulated industries and/or the utilities sector would be advantageous.
