Focused on providing world-leading innovative leadership in the planning and design of the digitisation of health and care services, NHS Digital delivers the key digital, data and technology needs of the health and care system.
As the nexus of the large and complex web of connections between NHS Digital and the clinical community it serves, the Chief Medical Officer will have a crucial role in leading NHS Digital’s vision for the power of digital transformation of health and care into senior clinical communities across the system, providing professional leadership across disciplines and expert, innovative advice to the Chief Executive and Board in support of the organisation’s overall strategy, vision and values. A member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Chief Medical Officer will be a highly credible and national ambassador for the organisation, leading a team of around 80 clinicians.
You will have an outstanding reputation as a medical leader with a proven track record of managing clinical services and the ability to deliver an effective, outcome-focused vision and strategy across NHS Digital. Accomplished in influencing and engaging stakeholders, you will grow positive relationships inside the organisation and externally, bringing an understanding of some of the national and regional ecosystems through which health and care is delivered. You will also have a passion for digitisation of health and care services, ideally bringing experience of clinical informatics and how they relate to health and care provision. Crucially, you will currently be a registered and regulated medical professional.
