Employing over 250 staff, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority is responsible for the management and decommissioning of nuclear facilities and their waste, through its ownership of 17 sites across England, Wales and Scotland, ensuring that this process is safely managed

The NDA is now seeking outstanding candidates for the role of Head of Health, Safety and Environment. This role acts as the “strategic authority” to guide the contribution of Health, Safety and the Environment to NDA’s overall business strategy. The Head directly manages its health, safety, environmental performance analysis capability, enabling the NDA to be proactive in managing safety and environmental performance, and alert to changes and challenges. Reporting to the Director of Nuclear Operations, this role works across the Group to support the identification, sharing and adoption of good practice.

Candidates should be leaders operating at a senior level in a relevant industry and with a track record of successfully implementing a health and safety change and improvement programme. They will have strong leadership and strategic skills, and the ability to influence and work with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders, ideally including experience of interfacing with government, and/or where government is a major stakeholder. they will be comfortable operating in a highly complex and regulated environment where a high level of resilience and agility is required.
