The Nuffield Foundation is an independent charitable trust, set up in 1947, with a mission to advance educational opportunity and social well-being. They fund research that informs social policy, primarily in Education, Welfare and Justice. They also provide opportunities for young people to develop skills and confidence in science and research. They are the founder and co-funder of the Nuffield Council on Bioethics, the Nuffield Family Justice Observatory and the Ada Lovelace Institute, all based within our Clerkenwell offices and key parts of the Foundation.

The Nuffield Foundation are seeking exceptional candidates for a newly created role: Director of Strategy and Engagement, who will report into the CEO, Tim Gardam. This person will work closely with Tim and the senior team across the Foundation and it’s In house Institutes, to evaluate the impact of its work in line with the Foundation’s current strategic plan, and  to work with the senior team to articulate the future priorities of the Foundation.  This work will inform the development and delivery of  the next strategic plan and   appropriate impact and evaluation measures. They will lead and co-ordinate the Foundation’s external engagement across their different activities and lead on increasing the impact of the Foundation’s work with stakeholders and policy makers.

Successful candidates will be strategic thinkers, flexible and collaborative in style, with senior leadership experience in a highly strategic role with responsibility for optimising impact and developing high level engagement strategies. They will bring extensive experience of external engagement from a relevant context and strong influencing and negotiating skills.
