Job Reference:QAQZB1

Closing Date: Friday 31 Jul 2020

What we do

We are the professional regulator of the UK’s over 715,000 registered nurses, midwives and, in England, nursing associates. We work to ensure these dedicated, caring professionals have the knowledge and skills to deliver consistent, quality care that keeps people safe.

We want to support the professionals on our register in making a difference for the benefit of people using health and social care services across the UK. We have a new five year strategy 2020–2025 that will help us achieve our ambition;

Associate Council Member role

The Council is looking for up to two people to join us as Associate Council members.

We particularly wish to attract interest from registered midwives and/or midwifery or nursing professionals from Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities.

This is an opportunity to gain first-hand experience of what being a Council member involves and develop the skills and expertise needed to be a Non-Executive Director.

Associate members will have a chance to be involved in all aspects of the Council’s work and contribute to the Council’s business alongside appointed Council members.

We are looking for individuals who have the talent, ability and potential to develop the skills needed to succeed in a Non-Executive level role and who can bring an additional perspective to the Council’s discussions.

You need to be able to devote 3 days a month to the Council; in return you will receive an honorarium or allowance linked to the amount of time you are able to commit and in line with the Council’s allowances policy.

You will be joining an ambitious, forward-thinking Council determined to ensure our strategy makes a difference to the health and care of all our communities.

Recognising the immense pressure on all our professionals right now, we will begin the search for suitable candidates later in the year. In the meantime, those interested can find more information here or get in touch with Annabel Fish at Saxton Bampfylde (
