The Office for Students (OfS) is the newly-established independent regulator of higher education in England, whose aim is to ensure that every student, whatever their background, has a fulfilling experience of higher education that enriches their lives and careers.
It does so by regulating the higher education providers on its register to make sure they are delivering positive outcomes for their students and value for money; where they are not, it takes action.
The Chief Technology Officer will play a key leadership role within the organisation, leading the Information Technology team to develop and implement effective strategies and cultures to ensure the organisation is able to get the best use of systems and services.
The role requires strategic leadership to set the mission and vision of IT across the OfS. The Chief Technology Officer will act as the trusted adviser to directors, ensuring that the OfS delivers the benefits of a recent digital, data and technology programme that has introduced several new technologies to the organisation.
Candidates will bring demonstrable experience in strategic planning, technology development and service delivery. They will be capable of instilling confidence in the business and drive benefits from the use of technology.
The ability to build constructive, sustainable working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, will brought by candidates who also can empower and lead a team.
Comfortable with ambiguity, candidates will be capable of taking the initiative and originating action, as well as identifying organisational threats (such as Cyber security risks) and mitigating these.
