As part of ODI’s exciting next phase of development, we are now looking for a Managing Director to join our strong executive leadership team and take the lead for our research and policy. Working in partnership with the Managing Director, Programmes & Management, you will lead and nurture our programme leadership team and set ODI’s research and policy agenda within the context of evolving global challenges and the Institute’s overall strategy. You will work closely with the Chief Executive and executive team colleagues, providing substantive leadership on research quality, thematic work, programme performance, and support and guidance to our policy influence and communications function. As a member of the senior leadership team, and as part of our matrixed management approach, you will also contribute to the wider strategic and operational demands of the organisation.
You will bring a demonstrated capacity for policy influence at global level, programme management skills from both a strategic and operational perspective, excellent leadership skills, and substantial relevant research experience. As well as a thorough understanding of the role of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and experience of data analysis, you will have demonstrable leadership experience in communications and public affairs and substantial research experience in economics, political science, anthropology or other social sciences, with attendant publications record.
