Palace of Westminster Restoration and Renewal Programme Board

External Members

Job Reference OBEVA
Closing Date Monday 12 Sep 2022

The Houses of Parliament Restoration and Renewal Programme (the R&R Programme) has been established to tackle the significant work that needs to be done to protect and preserve the heritage of the Palace of Westminster and ensure it can continue to serve as home to the UK Parliament in the 21st century. This is an enormous and unprecedented undertaking, which is expected to be the most complex renovation programme of any single building the UK has ever seen.

The R&R Programme has recently undergone changes to its governance, with work now being overseen and directed by a two-tier governance system within the Houses of Parliament through two new Boards: the R&R Client Board and the R&R Programme Board. The programme of works are being delivered by the independent Delivery Authority established as a company limited by guarantee in 2019.

The R&R Programme Board are looking to recruit for up to four external members, independent, all of whom will need to demonstrate experience of leadership and delivery at the highest level in an executive or non-executive capacity in the private, public or voluntary sectors. They will have outstanding Board-level experience in an organisation operating in a prominent public sphere, a significant track record of leadership and outstanding levels of expertise in the types of issues that are likely to be important in the Restoration and Renewal Programme, experience of working within an open and transparent environment and achieving demonstrable value for money.

The Houses of Parliament are committed to valuing diversity and promoting equality, and we particularly welcome applications from groups which are currently under-represented in senior leadership appointments.

Saxton Bampfylde Ltd is acting as an employment agency advisor to the Palace of Westminster Restoration and Renewal Programme Board on this appointment. For further information about the role, including details about how to apply, please visit www.saxbam.com/appointments using reference OBEVA. Alternatively telephone +44 (0)20 7227 0880 (during office hours). Applications should be received by noon on 12th September 2022.
