At the Port of London Authority (PLA), we are responsible for the tidal Thames, 95 miles of river from Teddington Lock, through central London, out to the North Sea. Our world-famous port is the largest and fastest growing in the UK, and the Thames is the country’s busiest inland waterway for freight and passengers. We work to keep commercial and leisure users safe, protect and enhance the river environment and promote the use of the river for trade and travel.
