Chief Executive

Job Reference JAIAOA
Closing Date Tuesday 04 Aug 2020

Propertymark is the largest professional association for estate agents and letting agents and incorporates valuers and auctioneers, commercial Business agents and Inventory providers in the UK. With over 17,000 members, Propertymark plays an essential role in raising standards and protecting consumers.
Propertymark has become ever more prominent, especially given its role working with government and other organisations in the sector on shaping and responding to a new approach to regulation. Navigating the opportunities and challenges presented by this changing market environment remains a clear priority, and on top of this, Propertymark is playing a leading role in understanding and responding to the possible significant impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the property market. The organisation will continue to provide much needed leadership and guidance to government, partners and members as the sector defines and adapts to a ‘new normal’.
Against this background, Propertymark’s role in lifting standards, engaging policy makers with a coordinated voice, and promoting unity and understanding amongst sales agents, letting agents and other property professionals has never been more important.
The board are now looking to appoint an experienced CEO who will deliver a step-change in the profile, impact and operational performance of Propertymark, This CEO will join at a pivotal time as Propertymark seeks to meet its strategic plan to become “one Propertymark”, and integrate ARLA (Association of Residential Letting Agents), NAEA (National Association of Estate Agents) and other brands into a unified structure. From this viewpoint across the whole organisation, the CEO will work with the board on navigating the way forward, and play a leading role in supporting a large and economically critical sector in emerging from the pandemic, shaping and responding to major changes in regulation, lifting operational and commercial performance and developing a unified workforce.
We welcome applications for this exciting role from people with experience of strategic and operational leadership in comparably sizeable organisations and a track record of working effectively with policy makers as well as a wide range of other stakeholders. Candidates will bring an authentic interest in the property sector, even if they haven’t worked in it before, and will have evidenced their ability to balance leadership and service, and the soft skills required to listen, understand and amplify the needs of a large and diverse membership body, and shape a healthy organisational culture.
