1 in 8 men in the UK will get prostate cancer. It recently overtook breast cancer to become the most commonly diagnosed cancer of all. Whilst many men live long and well after a diagnosis, many others see their lives seriously impacted by side effects or cut short, with prostate cancer now the third biggest cancer killer in the UK. Prostate Cancer UK is working to change that, with a clear vision of a future where lives are not limited by prostate cancer. We unite the brightest minds in science and healthcare and the most passionate and caring people to help men live long and live well. The futures of thousands of men across the UK depend on what we do in the next few years, and we need to increase the size and power of our movement to be able to address the issue. Over the next few years, our priorities are:
• Get men diagnosed earlier
• Get men diagnosed more accurately
• Get better treatments and ensure men can access them
• Get better support for men and their families
We are looking to find the next Director of Support and Influencing to join our Leadership Team. This role leads on delivery of gold standard support and information services and influencing for improvements in diagnosis, treatment and care that will make the biggest difference to men with prostate cancer across the whole of the UK. You will be someone who can demonstrate a credible track record of operational delivery in complex environments, balanced with the communication skills and insight to ensure an impactful presence as part of the senior leadership, but also with external stakeholders. We need a Director who is highly strategic, and understands working with government and policy makers, as well as the NHS and wider health, care and research sectors, on a national scale.
