We are the RNLI: the charity that saves lives from drowning. Every day of every year, people of all backgrounds get into danger in the water. It’s a problem that we’re here to tackle. We are known as a national institution famous for heroic sea rescues, but we’re more than a rescue service. We influence, supervise and educate people too. Increasingly, we are helping people to stay safe on the water, and we’re working with overseas partners to reduce drowning internationally.

From the first ever street collection in Manchester in 1891 to the first major charity to move to opt-in, the RNLI has always been innovative with fundraising. The RNLI does not draw on public funds and is independent of government. We are now looking for a Director of Fundraising to ensure we continue to be able to fund our lifesaving work and to lead our incredible fundraising teams of staff and volunteers across the UK and Ireland.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, we are looking for a dynamic fundraising professional with extensive experience to join us and bring our income generating strategy to life. They will successfully deliver our forecasts whilst connecting with and building new fundraising audiences. This role will work closely with our Strategy and Marketing teams to further build and strengthen the RNLI’s brand and reputation. Candidates should come with senior leadership experience, an in-depth knowledge of fundraising including segmentation of target markets and the technologies available to support their work. They will also have a track record of managing expenditure and multi-million pound income from a range of streams.

The new Director will provide excellent leadership to our fundraising and public engagement teams across the UK and Ireland. The successful candidate will be able to engage with and inspire our teams of volunteers and supporters, as well as the communities we work with. They will have the ability to build relationships with potential donors to the organisation.
