Incorporated by Royal Charter in 1922, the Royal Over-Seas League (ROSL) is a unique international and Commonwealth body dedicated to championing international friendship and understanding through the development of music, arts and education projects and club facilities in St James’s, London. ROSL have 16,000 members worldwide, with 6,500 of those based in the UK who enjoy a clubhouse with accommodation, dining, conferencing and banqueting facilities, as well as a vibrant event calendar, packed with lectures, concerts and exhibitions. It was the first London club to admit women into its membership and today over 50% of its members are women.
As ROSL enters the next chapter in its 110-year history, the Central Council Board are seeking exceptional candidates for the role of Director-General. The new Director-General will develop and deliver a vision for the next phase of the organisation, including growing the membership and overseeing major building renovations at the London clubhouse. Responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the organisation, they will play an active role in maintaining ROSL’s international profile and developing social and cultural links with a wide variety of organisations.
The successful candidate will be an inspiring leader and manager, able to build lasting relationships internally and externally at all levels. Outstanding communicators and advocates, candidates will bring commercial acumen and a sophisticated understanding of, and experience in, fundraising. They will be able to work at an operational and strategic level, and will ideally demonstrate a knowledge of the hospitality industry and/or membership organisations.
