Sarum Hall School
Chair of Governors

Sarum Hall School is a small but truly exceptional independent day school for 190 girls aged 3-11, situated in Belsize Park, an affluent residential area of Hampstead in north London.
Sarum Hall School was established in September 1929 at 51 Eton Avenue, Belsize Park by Miss Violet E. Webb, the first Headmistress. In 1995, the School moved to its current award-winning, purpose-built premises at 15 Eton Avenue. This modern and inspiring environment has since been extended and continually improved. The buildings offer large, spacious, and light-filled classrooms that foster creativity and curiosity in learning. Despite numerous changes and developments over the years, Sarum Hall School has remained true to Miss Webb’s original vision of providing an outstanding education for girls.
Pupils are not academically tested and selected before being accepted and so Sarum Hall are especially proud of the excellent academic results and established record of scholarship and examination success. All girls are able to fulfil their ambitions and potential and go on to attend some of the most prestigious day and boarding schools in London and beyond.
The role of Chair of Governors is both stimulating and challenging. It requires active engagement whilst remaining explicitly non-executive and pro bono. The Chair leads and sets the tone for the Governing Body, its role and its interactions with the School.
The Chair of Governors has a critical role in fostering an environment where the Headmistress and her team can deliver an exceptional education to girls whilst, at the same time, ensuring the School stays at the forefront of education in the country.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to independent education, and an ability to articulate the values of all-girls’ education. They will be an experienced leader and a calm, balanced, fair-minded person with excellent judgement and unquestionable integrity.
