The Academy of Medical Sciences seeks a trusted and visionary Chief Executive to lead at a time when biomedical and health science in the UK and around the world is characterised by both enormous opportunity and complex challenge. This requires strong, innovative, and connective leadership from the Academy, as a champion of research, researchers, and better health outcomes. The Academy intends to strengthen its role, not just in medical science, but also in shaping government policy, boosting the economy through life sciences, and building strong partnerships in industry and research. It is more committed than ever to using its trusted voice to support innovation, entrepreneurship and leadership development and ensuring patients and the public can be proactively involved in their healthcare and in health research.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced leader in the university or charitable research sectors, or in intensive R&D industries. They will bring experience of leading large, complex, and diverse organisations through successful change, and a track record of running and developing a diverse organisation, focused on excellence. Strong candidates will bring experience gained in a membership or fellowship environment, and experience of operating at a senior level at the nexus of Government, research, industry, the NHS, patients, and the public.
