Chair

Job Reference USMX
Closing Date Friday 29 Apr 2022

The Children’s Society passionately believe that every child should feel safe and loved, able to be the best they can be. It’s a scandal that millions of children in this country live in poverty, battle with homelessness, struggle with mental health issues and are groomed into exploitation and abuse.  The Children’s Society has a bold and audacious vision for a country which is built for all children, where no child is left behind and every child can thrive not just survive.

Our incredible teams work directly with over 40,000 of the most disadvantaged young people in the country, and their voices and stories inspire us to be a systems changing disruptive organisation.  From our front line work to our work in the public square we are fighting to change the systems that trap young people in disadvantage.

As we look ahead to 2030, we are being bolder, and more ambitious than ever, at a time when young people’s hope and happiness are under enormous threat, and we now looking for a passionate, committed new Chair who will steer our Board and continue to drive us forward.

We are seeking an experienced board leader, who can combine personal presence, humility and an open, accessible style. You will be a strategic thinker, helping us through transformative change, and a compelling communicator and ambassador, with a range of stakeholders. You will also inspire and empower our teams. Importantly, you will lead with our values of being brave, ambitious, trustworthy, and supportive.

Whether it’s our role as an employer, our work with supporters, volunteers or our service delivery, we’re committed to Diversity and Inclusion (D&I). We would welcome applications for this role from a range of backgrounds.
