Trustees and Committee Members

Job Reference USMW
Closing Date Friday 06 Nov 2020

The Children’s Society transforms the hopes and happiness of young people facing abuse, exploitation and neglect. We take inspiration from the courage and hope we see in young people every day. It fuels our belief that every young person deserves a good childhood.
We campaign tirelessly for the big social changes that will transform young people’s well-being, striving to improve the lives of those who need hope the most. In the decade ahead our focus and goal will be to overturn the damaging decline in well-being, ensuring this generation can have a happier, safer childhood.
We know as well as anyone that there are no simple solutions to the complex problems young people face. This is why we work with politicians, policy makers, young people themselves and other organisations, to bring people together to find practical solutions, and to make a better future a reality.
We are increasingly known for our cutting edge and innovative solutions, developed with the in- sights drawn from research and policy work based on the hard evidence of our powerful frontline work. Driven by hope and working alongside young people and supporters, we will not rest until together we create a society built for all children.
We now seek two new trustees with the vision, experience and insight to join our excellent Trustee Board, to provide governance oversight and guidance to our newly developing strategy. These new Trustees will be individuals of exceptional calibre and will help us fight for change and hope.
The first will have extensive senior executive experience in the online sales or e-retail and who will provide expert advice in order to stretch our presence in this area. The second will have extensive experience of commercial finance and financial oversight in an organisation of at least the same size and complexity as The Children’s Society. It is likely that, in time, the successful candidate will become Treasurer and chair of the Finance and Investment Committee.
We are also looking to appoint a number of Committee Members. These individuals will be full of potential, for whom this may be a first committee or trustee role, and who are motivated to contribute to The Children’s Society, on one or more of our committees, with the possibility of becoming future Trustees of the charity. We are looking for people from underrepresented back-
grounds, who bring diversity of thought, and who are able to bring new and challenging perspec- tives to the organisation.
The Children’s Society recognises the enormous benefits of keeping a diverse board. We actively and warmly encourage applications therefore from a broad and deep range of backgrounds and experiences.
For more information, including how to apply, please refer to the website of Saxton Bampfylde Ltd, www.saxbam.com/appointments using reference USMW. Applications should arrive no later than noon on Friday 6 November 2020.
