The National Brain Appeal

Chief Executive

Job Reference NAJAIB
Closing Date Tuesday 30 May 2023

Salary: circa £115,000

In the UK, one in six of us has a neurological condition. That’s 14.7 million people needing specialist support and care.

The National Brain Appeal exists to transform the lives of the millions affected by neurological conditions by raising funds to advance vital treatment and research for all aspects of brain disease – from dementia to stroke, Parkinson’s to epilepsy, brain tumours to neuromuscular diseases – at the world leading National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN) and the UCL Institute of Neurology at Queen Square in London.

To date, we have raised more than £56 million to enable our clinicians at Queen Square to progress their essential work – but there is so much more to do.

Our newly launched strategic plan proposes a step change in our impact, and to do this we plan to grow our income from around £3.5 million to £15 million per annum by the end of 2027 and a cumulative £100 million by 2032.

We are looking for a new Chief Executive who will build on our success to date and move us forward on our ambitious journey through innovative fundraising, raising our profile and growing our reputation in the public sphere, whilst engaging with our staff and patients and stakeholders in support of our mission to give those with all types of brain disease a better life.

We are looking for a visionary, creative and strategic leader who brings the experience of driving growth, is an exceptional communicator, adept at managing change and delivering financial growth, while motivating teams and communicating and collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders. Whilst experience in the healthcare or medical research sector will be helpful, charity sector experience will be more important. A strong empathy for our mission, values and the work we exist to support at Queen Square will be essential.

We warmly welcome applications from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences.
