The Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh is seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate as Chair to provide leadership to the Board of Trustees and Executive Team in support of The Lyceum’s wide ranging artistic and educational activities.
The Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh, led by Artistic Director David Greig and Executive Director Mike Griffiths, is the leading producing theatre in Scotland and one of the United Kingdom’s most prolific theatre companies. Nominated in The Stage Awards 2020 for Regional Theatre of the Year, The Lyceum has developed a reputation for innovative, high-quality theatre, drawing upon the considerable talent in Scotland as well as developing award-winning work with national and international partners. The Lyceum is committed to being rooted in the community, a truly civic theatre entertaining, challenging and inspiring all the people of Edinburgh. Therefore, a very important part of The Lyceum’s offering is a well-attended and varied programme of engagement and outreach through our Creative Learning team.
Candidates will have a passion for theatre and the conviction that the arts have the power to transform lives and communities. They will have a strong track record of leadership and experience working at board level, ideally in a chairing role. With an awareness of the current regional and national opportunities and challenges in the arts, candidates will have excellent relationship-building and communication skills, along with the energy and drive to support the development of the theatre’s artistic and strategic vision for the future. As a key ambassador for the theatre, the postholder will be a compelling communicator who is willing to represent the theatre across a wide range of external stakeholders including funders, partners and policy makers. Candidates will need to demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
