Non-Executive Director

Job Reference JAIAHA
Closing Date Wednesday 29 Jan 2020

Now part of the L&Q Group, Trafford Housing Trust (THT) is an important North-West based housing provider with over 9000 homes, and an organisation on an exciting trajectory of growth and change. With a long-held reputation for quality and delivering social value, and now with the capacity and resources of L&Q behind it, THT is looking forward to realising ambitious plans to develop 20,000 more homes, and further enhance and modernise its range of high-quality care and support services.
Over the last five years THT has grown its domiciliary care business, Trustcare, from a standing start to delivering over 2,000 hours of care each week, including through innovative partnerships with the NHS. Its offering ranges from home-based care to sheltered and extra care schemes, an alert and response telecare/telehealth service and delivery of reablement packages. The overarching aim is to provide the very highest quality care to allow people to stay independent for longer.
THT is now recruiting for a non-executive director, with experience in services that support independent living (care, housing, telecare/telehealth) to contribute and add value to its established and high calibre board. This is an exciting time to be joining, and the new non-executive director will have the opportunity to help shape THT’s future vision and strategy, not only for its care offering but across the full breadth of its activities. The new non-executive director will play a key role in helping THT emerge as an exemplar of best practice within the L&Q Group and across the housing and care space nationally.
We are looking for people who will bring deep and senior level experience in the operational delivery of Social Care and/or Independent Living services and the understanding of different care and business models required to provide challenge and support to the Board and Executive Team in the design and execution of our plans. The right person may or may not have previous non-executive experience but they will have a track record of operating at a strategic level in care-provider settings, an understanding of what it takes to create a world-class service-delivery environment and a healthy organisational culture, as well as a deep commitment to person-centred care and service-user engagement. THT are committed to diversifying their board and welcome applications from people with the broadest possible range of backgrounds. The expected time commitment for the role is around 1 day a month and the role is remunerated.
