Trinity College London is a major international exam board employing some 275 people and delivering over 850,000 assessments each year worldwide. With a rich heritage of academic rigour and a positive, supportive approach to assessment, Trinity College London provides recognised and respected qualifications in a unique spectrum of communicative skills — from music, drama and arts activities to English language — at all levels. Trinity’s global network is expanding, and its educational role internationally is deepening. Significant investment has been made to consolidate existing operations and create capacity for expansion, with groundwork laid for new collaborations, and extension of the product portfolio.
This is an exciting Non-Executive Chair opportunity working with the Trinity Council of Trustees, and Chief Executive, supported by her very capable senior management team, to deliver a continued period of planned international growth. Candidates will be passionate about the life-enhancing and often life-changing impact of the education services that Trinity provides and want to be involved with a vibrant and outward looking international educational organisation which needs to balance a number of critical success factors, of which integrity, academic excellence and innovation are paramount. As the digital and learning landscape evolves rapidly, the Chair will play a key role in supporting the organisation as it develops to deliver innovative products and tests that have a real impact on learners’ lives in the 60-plus countries in which Trinity operates.
Candidates will already have significant experience operating at board level, and prior chairing experience would be preferable. They will have the intellectual horsepower, strategic mindset and scale of international leadership experience, together with a deep understanding and network connecting with the types of organisations such as Governments, NGOs and Higher Education establishments that Trinity engages and wishes to target. You will appreciate the value of representing and linking the values and aims of Trinity, through the Chief Executive, with potential new markets and decision-makers at the highest levels in the UK and around the world.
The appointment will be for a period of 3 years in line with Charity Commission guidelines with an opportunity to extend for a second term. The role is unremunerated, and expenses are reimbursed.
