Location: London, with regular international travel
Salary: attractive salary
Start: from early 2019 and as soon as is possible

United World Schools (UWS) is a relatively new charity whose basic mission is to bring the ability to read, write and count to as many children in unreached, remote areas as possible. With teams in Myanmar, Cambodia and Nepal, the charity is delivering its mission – thanks to their supporters and donors around the world, over 20,000 children have now seen the inside of a UWS classroom. Currently employing over 100 people in the UK and overseas, UWS has almost doubled in size every year since 2013. In April 2014, it launched its Transforming 50,000 Lives Campaign – with a clear focus on putting 50,000 children and young adults into a UWS School. They are almost half-way there already.

The charity is looking to appoint a new Development Director, who will have responsibility for gearing up UWS’ fund-raising in the UK and around the world. This role will lead UWS’ fund-raising operations, working closely with the CEO, a committed Board of Trustees and talented Director Team. It is a new role for the UWS Team, and one that is vital to sustain the charity’s growth.

The UWS core team is relatively small group of smart, driven and talented individuals, with an ambitious, ‘can-do’ approach – hopefully just like you. UWS’s teams in Myanmar, Cambodia and Nepal are exactly the same. It is a team which supports and challenges each other, sharing a commitment to delivering for the cause.

Saxton Bampfylde Ltd is acting as an employment agency advisor to United World Schools on this appointment. For further information about the role, including details about how to apply, please visit www.saxbam.com/appointments using reference CACAQA. Applications should be received by noon on Monday 7 January.

All staff, volunteers and partners of UWS have a common commitment to the prevention of child abuse and the protection of children. UWS is committed to full accountability and transparency, and continues to develop its practices to ensure the highest standards of behaviour towards children, young people and their families.
