The Board is collectively responsible for the success of UCLH and ensures the Trust promotes high quality care and shows a genuine interest in patients, the local community, the staff and the NHS. This includes the effective delivery of UCLH’s vision to deliver top-quality patient care, excellent education and world-class research and providing a positive work environment for all employees. Non-executive directors make an important contribution to the effective running of UCLH. They help to develop strategy, scrutinise performance and satisfy themselves as to the integrity of clinical, financial and other information presented to them.
UCLH is seeking to appoint an exceptional individual as NED for whom the welfare of UCLH and its patients and staff will be paramount. It is anticipated that the appointed NED will play a major role in the Board’s scrutiny of finance and investment issues. This will include serving as a member of the Finance and Investment Committee as well as being a member of other Board committees if required, e.g. the Audit Committee. As such they will be a qualified accountant with relevant senior financial leadership experience. They will have prior experience of sitting on or interacting with finance and audit committees in an executive or non-executive capacity.
Board meetings take place in central London. To apply for this appointment, you must be eligible to be a public member of UCLH (currently a resident of any electoral area within the London Boroughs, the City of London, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent and Surrey) or a patient member (a patient at UCLH within the past 3 years).
The remuneration for the role is £13,000 per annum plus a £2,000 annual special responsibilities allowance.
