The University is now seeking to appoint an exceptional individual to join the Senior Management Team of the University as Vice-Principal for Research.  Responsible to the Principal, the VP Research will provide strategic leadership across all aspects of institutional research strategy and policy and inspire the University community to make world-leading contributions to knowledge and impact.  Along with the other members of the Senior Management Team, the VP Research will assist the Principal in achieving the University’s Aberdeen 2040 objectives of inclusiveness, interdisciplinarity, internationalisation and sustainability.

Good candidates will bring a proven track record of fostering and delivering a strong performance ethos within a research context, coupled with highly developed interpersonal and motivational skills.  A proven track record of efficient and effective management of resources alongside a world-leading reputation in their field of research will be important.  This should be evidenced through a sustained track record in attracting high levels of research funding and a deep understanding of the REF.  A commitment to an inclusive leadership approach will be essential.
