University of Hertfordshire

Chief Information and Digital Officer

Job Reference IAUHB
Closing Date Friday 15 Jul 2022

With heritage in Britain’s pioneering aeronautical industry, the University of Hertfordshire has been an innovative force in education since the early 1950s. Today, we host a thriving community of more than 30,000 students, studying 550-degree options at our vibrant, inclusive, campus-based institution. Our strong relationships with industry and award-winning careers services complement high-quality teaching to ensure Herts’ students gain the knowledge and skills they need to match their ambition and succeed. Our academics are experts in their fields, powered by curiosity and driven to deliver research that’s making a meaningful social and environmental impact in the UK and beyond our shores.

We are now looking to appoint a new Chief Information and Digital Officer (CIDO). The CIDO will provide leadership and direction to the University’s integrated information services, information technology and learning resources to support an excellent student and staff experience, high quality learning and teaching, world class research and innovation, pioneering business engagement and knowledge exchange, and efficient management and administration. They will lead the development and delivery of the University’s Digital and Data Strategies as well as leading the Library and Computer Services (LCS) Strategic Business Unit (SBU). The CIDO reports to the Secretary and Registrar and sits on the Chief Executive’s Group (CEG).

Strong candidates for the role will bring a track record of successful delivery and of driving digital and technological innovation to support strategic objectives. They will have outstanding technical skills, but also the ability to motivate teams and work collaboratively across organisations to deliver impact. Although higher education experience is not essential, the ability to lead student-facing teams and a strong commitment to our values will be critical.
