The Department of Chemistry at Liverpool is one of the most exciting places in the UK to study or research Chemistry. In the last Research Excellence Framework assessment, it was ranked second of all Chemistry Departments in the UK.

The title of Regius Professor is a rare and prestigious academic recognition bestowed by Her Majesty The Queen to reward exceptional research excellence. The Regius Professor will join a lively and intellectually stimulating research community which performs at the highest international level. The Department provides access to state-of-the-art research facilities, including the Materials Innovation Factory, established via a £81m partnership between the University and Unilever with support from HEFCE.

The University is seeking a high-achieving scholar with a growing international profile in chemistry research who will maintain and develop the reputation of Liverpool as a leading university in this field, both through research and through the education of students from undergraduate to doctoral level. The position is designed to give an outstanding academic the opportunity to build on the Department of Chemistry’s world-leading research in fields that address major scientific challenges. The successful candidate will be an exceptionally talented academic in any area of chemistry and will play an active role in encouraging the research and teaching of other colleagues in the field.
