An incredible opportunity to shape our global research.
Six Nobel Prize winners, 29,000 of the brightest students and over 8,000 colleagues, from more than 140 countries around the world. There are so many reasons why the University of Sheffield is an outstanding place to work. And here’s another.
We’ve just launched our fantastic flagship interdisciplinary Research Institutes, and they’re already helping to address some of the most pressing social, economic and health challenges around the globe.
Now, we’re looking for a leader with an excellent academic track record, and an impressive international research standing, to join us as our new Vice-President.
As one of three cross-cutting Vice-Presidents at the University, you’ll be a member of our Executive Board, and you’ll help shape and steer our entire research strategy. Crucially, you’ll create both the opportunities and the necessary environment within the University, for fruitful and innovative academic collaboration. All the while, you’ll continue to grow your own research profile and personal development, keeping an active interest in your area of expertise.
Our ideal candidate is someone whose background, education and experience wins respect and trust, across the academic community. You’ll bring proven achievement within an interdisciplinary context in a large, complex organisation, at a senior level. With this, you’ll have a good understanding of University decision-making structures, as well as national decision-making bodies.
You’re open, collaborative, approachable and reliable. Your drive and enthusiasm inspires everyone around you, and you communicate an ambitious vision in a way that engages people at every level. You’re highly influential, and you foster an environment where purposeful creativity and innovation can thrive. You’re willing to share knowledge, maximise opportunities, and lobby for change at all levels.
This is your chance to be part of the university that’s ranked 75th in the QS World University Rankings, and in the top 10% of UK universities for research strength. And, to be part of the only university to feature in The Sunday Times 100 Best Not-For-Profit Organisations to Work For 2018.
It’s your chance to make a real impact on our economy and society, and create an international centre of excellence, for centuries to come.
